My best friend Sally

Today’s blog post is special! It’s about my best friend Sally, who I’ve known since kindergarten! Sally may live on the other side of town, but we’ve gone to the same school for years, and we love to hang out together at the mall or at the park.

I think our friendship started when our kindergarten teacher assigned us as seatmates, and so we were always able to see what the other girl was drawing or doing on her desk. We were just little kids, so we tried to ‘improve’ the others’ macaroni artwork or whatever by reaching over and ‘fixing’ it and causing such a huge fuss! I don’t even know how we became friends after such meddling, but I think it was because we both managed to get the teacher so frazzled! And that’s how it started, the two of us were always together on the playground or at lunchtime, and that never changed all the way until high school.

My family travels a lot for vacation, so that means I get to meet a lot of different people. Most of them are just the same as other people I have already met. But Sally is the one person who remains different. I never meet anybody quite like her, so I think that’s why she’s my best friend. She’s also funny and crazy, and we love the same flavors of ice cream which is chocolate! Here’s a pic I found, dedicated to Sally.. (LOL)

We like a lot of the same things, really, except we don’t listen to the same kinds of music. Her tastes run very much to  classic rock, while I’m more of an alternative-indie type of person. That means we do tease each other a lot about what we listen to!

Sally and I also love to watch plays together. When there’s a new production at the local theater we’re always among the first to buy a ticket– and the last, too! We’ve never seen a play less than twice. We do whole Shakespeare dialogues at the drop of a hat and play Broadway music in the car, which drives our fathers crazy! In fact, when we’re together we drive a lot of other people crazy, but we just like to have a good time.

I am super lucky to know someone like Sally, who is like a sister to me!
